Our First Thanksgiving - not as expected
We had plans to be with family in Oklahoma for the holiday. Sickness has struck the household and prevented us from travelling and from adventuring in general. We haven’t left the house except to retrieve food in about a week. It has also been chilly and cloudy and therefore generally miserable. We were able to scramble and get a nice meal put together for the big day. If you ever need to know: one box of stovetop stuffing fits almost perfectly stuffed inside two Cornish hens and whole stuffed Cornish hens need to be smoked longer than 2 hours at 250 degrees. Thank goodness for microwaves in a pinch.
We are thankful that we are able to be together as a family and that we have all the things needed to provide for ourselves. We are also thankful to be trying out this adventure blogging exercise, hopefully it is providing value to our readers.
I haven’t gotten as much done on the website as I would have liked to, but I am learning some interesting things. It is fulfilling and fascinating to research the folks that I am quoting to provide the reader more than just the words of the weekly quotes. Everything associated with vlogging, blogging, and videography is more difficult and time-consuming than I had given content creators credit for. I seriously think one person’s full time job could be keeping the upcoming events page going. :-)
I have been told that I need to dive off into Pinterest. Apparently I am a late bloomer and it is an amazing social media platform. I will get there someday! It is certainly on the list of things to do.
I am not sure that I am cut out to be a video editor. A friend of mine warned me that audio is hard. I didn’t dismiss him but I have since found out how difficult it is. No recording has perfect audio, especially if you are trying to video natural sounds out in the open. It amazes me the amount of road noise and general background craziness that our ears typically tune out but the video camera does not.
We have been blessed with some affiliate marketing opportunities. I need to jump on these and try to get some posts with the links included. I am still trying to wrap my head around trying to provide something that is informative, halfway entertaining, and compelling enough for the reader to click the link and purchase an item. I won’t share an affiliate link on something that we haven’t used and really recommend. I guess I just hope that the reader appreciates the item like we do.
I will continue to slog on and add content to this website and subsequently on the socials. Please provide feedback to us if there is something that we can do better. If you like the content consider liking it, sharing it, and subscribing to our Youtube and Facebook pages. At this stage, this is kind of like providing a presentation on a zoom call… I am not even sure if anyone is listening.
If you are still reading. Thank you. There is more exciting content to come when we are all feeling better.
